Once I had settled in to my job at Plusnet, secured a place to live in Sheffield, and adjusted to "life after university" I spent a lot of free time developing websites and web applications for friends and colleagues. It was during this time that I applied for a job at DiSC Systems as a Second Line support team member, where I work with an open source PBX phone system written in PHP and hosted in Amazon AWS. My role includes responding to customer queries in a timely manner, checking the codebase for any errors/problems, and developing new features alongside our dedicated team of developers.
Recently, I began working alongside our irish office as a member of the development operations team and the third line of support. This is a much more direct approach to bug fixing, with daily stand up meetings with both the support team and the operations team as well as access to the product via a local setup in docker; so that we can test code on a demo system before pushing to git; which is done via the gitflow method in order to keep any and all brances clean and free of conflicts
After graduating from Sheffield Hallam I worked as a call center agent for a period of 10 months. As a member of the support team, it was my job to provide in depth support for a wide array of queries ranging from Wifi and Broadband issues to home phone and landline queries.
The Computer Security with Forensics Degree includes a variety of technical and professional modules including, but not limited too; Computer Systems and Architecture, Networking Fundamentals, Python Programming, Maths and Cryptography, Network Service and Administration, Professionalism and Communication Skills & Network Intrusion Detection
During my time at NEW College Pontefract I learnt a comprehensive range of IT skills varying from e-Commerce & Business to Games & Graphic design.
During my time at The Snaith School I achieved 6 GCSEs (A-C) including Maths, English & Science
Operating as a freelancer during my final year, I worked closely with the clientele of C21 creative to increase their social media presence and engagement rates by first analysing trends via twitter feeds and facebook analytic data and then scheduling social media posts that matched previous posts with the highest engagement rates. This, combined with engaging video marketing in the form of idents and footage of a recent event that had been held, proved to be very succesful in growing their online following by 60%
During my time at Satisnet I learned and maintained a SIEM product called 'Qradar'. This is a system that is deployed on a network to monitor any suspicious events taking place as well as helping network administrators respond to outstanding threats. After three months I joined the technical support team who were responsible for dealing with any clients that were having trouble with their security products via our online ticketing system or over the phone
While I was on my summber break June 2015 I was approached by the pastor of my local church to design and implement a new website that could be used to engage with members of the church and the local community.
